Mumbai, Mar 12 (PTI): Actress Meera Chopra has said her actress cousin Priyanka Chopra always ready to help her in her Bollywood career and she shares "emotional bonding" with her.
Meera revealed that she was close to Priyanka but not to her another cousin actress Parineeti.
Ever since Meera, who has acted in several South films, wanted to work in Bollywood and there were reports of the sibling rivalry as both Priyanka and Parineeti used to snub her.
Parineeti even went on to say that Meera isn't family but a distant relative.
Meera said Parineeti's remarks against her are "unwarranted and stupid".
"We all have been brought up together 20 years ago. We used to stay together. All brothers were close to each other before they spilt and brought up in different cities. Parineeti is young, Priyanka and I are of same age.. We are close," Meera said.
"When she (Parineeti) talks like that... I think it is stupid... Why would you talk like that. It doesn't disturb me as I don't have any emotional connect with her. I don't remember the time spent with her," she said.
But if such statements would have come from Priyanka then it would have definitely bothered Meera as they share a close relationship.
Meera revels Priyanka was angry as to why she did not show her anything about her upcoming film 'Gangs of Ghost'.
"I told her I did not show it to her because it (film) is not ready. Once it is ready, I will definitely show it to her for sure. She has always been there for me but I have never asked for her. She is a sister, a superstar and she knows I have self respect and that I will never ask for anything," Meera said.
Priyanka had promoted Meera's film, 'Gang of Ghosts' by sharing the film's theatrical trailer and tweeting "My sisters first Hindi movie! Check it!!! (sic)".
"It was sweet of her (Priyanka) to tweet about the film. She did it herself I did not ask her to do it. I want to prove a point to my family and to everybody that I can do things on my own. Now when I would need help, I will ask her," Meera said.
For Meera, Priyanka has always been a "huge inspiration" because she has risen to the stardom on her own and without any background or godfather.
"When I decided to get into Bollywood, I decided not to use her name (to get work) and she appreciates this thing. I want people to take me in films due to my talent and not because of Priyanka putting a word or she is related to me," Meera said.
Meera has two films in her hand - Satish Kaushik's 'Gangs of Ghost' and Vikram Bhatt's '1920 London'.
Now that she is here in Bollywood comparisons will be made with both the cousins and she is ready for that.
"I know comparisons will be there. I am confident as an actress. I think whatever comparisons will be made will be good," she added.
