Mangalore, Feb 21: Two trucks collided head-on with each other on national highway 66 opposite Mulky bus stand late night on Wednesday February 19. The driver of one of the trucks lost his life in the accident, while the driver of the other truck and cleaner of a tuck survived with serious injuries.
Jitendra Yadav (30), who was a driving a truck owned by Navayuga Constructions, which is executing highway widening work, which was carrying ready mix of bitumen and crushed stones for being used for the highway widening work, died at a hospital. It is learnt that he was from Gopalgunj in Bihar.
The front portions of both the trucks got smashed badly in the accident. Jitendra, who got stuck among mangled steel, and who had suffered multiple fractures, was taken out of the vehicle after prolonged efforts of the police with the help of locals. He was rushed to the hospital, but efforts made to keep him alive failed.
Raji Sab (38) from Dandeli in Uttara Kannada district, who was driving the goods truck that was involved in this accident, is being treated in a hospital. He is showing signs of recovery. Mohit Singh (20), cleaner of the bitumen ready mix truck, who was injured, is out of danger, the doctors said.
