Mangalore, Feb 17: “The race for one-upmanship, frictions, unwarranted ego and such other evils have been spoiling peace in the society. Social harmony has to be carefully nurtured, and individuals have to enrich their lives through hard work and devotion towards the Lord. Any task gets accomplished when the time is ripe, and hence we have to wait patiently during the period of adversities,” Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma), spiritual head of Amritanandamayi Ashram and group of educational and charitable institutions, exhorted the people.
She was delivering benedictory address on the second day of her visit to the city on Sunday February 16.
She said that education should add value to life, create awareness about the rich ocean of knowledge, besides leading people towards cultivating empathy towards others.
“Education should never make you selfish or give rise to evil thoughts in your minds. In addition to driving away unwarranted thoughts, we should keep pardoning mistakes of people. This habit helps in healing wounds of the hearts easily,” she analyzed.
Mata Amritanandamyi said that the people should cultivate the habit of heartily accepting unsavoury incidents which might occur anytime, and strive to weld hearts.
“In daily lives, we should employ our hearts rather than machines. We should lend a sympathetic ear to the views of others and develop positive attitude. When we respect values, and allow love to encompass every bit of our lives, our lives become fruitful,” she advised.
She reiterated that the ancient preaching of righteousness requires people to consider the feelings of others, reinforce trust towards others, and do good Karma, to be able to move towards salvation. She warned that people, who wrongly think that they can move towards the divine through a life of ill-conceived thoughts and wasting time instead of realizing the true meaning of the Lord’s powers, harm the society. Till one develops spirituality and shelves the ego, he cannot get salvation, she noted.
MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, city corporation commissioner, Ajit Kumar Hegde Shanadi, and various other dignitaries visited the venue and sought Amma’s blessings on Sunday.
