Kasargod, Feb 15: Five murder suspects of Paivalike Bayikatte Balike Azeez(40) have surrendered in the Kasargod court.
The surrendered suspects are Karnataka Madikeri resident Shoukat Ali(30), Paivalike Kalai resident Jayarama Noda(40), Paivalike's Yusuf Zia(23) Ahmed Raiz(26) and Nuris(23).
Police have already arrested six accused including the four said to be directly involved in the murder. With the current arrests, the total number of suspects arrested in the case has gone up to 11.
It is said that 16 people were involved in the murder and the remaining five people have absconded.
While Shoukat Ali was directly involved in the murder, the remaining four were involved in the conspiracy.
The arrested Yusuf Zia is the brother of arrested Abdul Hameed. There was an attempt on the life of Yusuf Zia, a month ago. The arrested have confessed that the murder of Balike Azeez was in retaliation of the attempt.
The surrendered suspects have been kept in judicial custody. Kumble circle inspector has said he will be requesting the court for extension of custody.
Paivalike Ambikana resident Ammi alias Abdul Hameed(30), Kalai resident Shafi(22), Salettore's Rafiq(28), Paivalike resident Shafi alias Chotu Shafi(22) and Karyarkatte resident Anchu alias Ansar(23) are already arrested.
Abdul Azeez was done to death with sharp weapons on January 25 night near Paivalike on Paivalike Chevaru road. When Azeez was on his way home from Permude to Bayikatte, the accused had hit his car with their vehicle and was stabbed with machetes.
