Mangalore, Feb 14: Confraternity Sunday was celebrated at Holy Spirit Church, Sampige on February 9, as a preparation for the annual feast of the Parish.
Fr Maxim D' Souza, Professor of St Joseph's Seminary, was the celebrant and the preacher of the day. After the mass procession of the Blessed Sacrament in the vicinity of the parish, accompanied by parishioners singing hymns and scriptural reading, they expressed their devotion and sentiments to the Lord.
The annual feast of Holy Spirit Church, Sampige was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety on Wednesday February 12. Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues, Parish Priest of Paladka Church was the main celebrant along with Fr Apolinaris Crasta, parish priest, and Fr Austine Paris, Moodbidri, deanery vicar. Many priests from the deanery and neighboring parishes also joined in the Eucharistic celebrations.
Earlier, votive candles were given to all the benefactors and all the parishioners as a gesture of goodwill.
A large number of parishioners and people from in and around the town attended the celebrations. At the end of the festive mass, Fr Aploinaris Crasta, parish priest, thanked the chief celebrant, Fr Ivan Michael Rodrigues and other guest priests and all those who extended their support for the smooth conduct of the annual feast. He wished all the parishioners of Sampige, their family members who are abroad and their guests from other parishes a happy annual feast.
The church was elegantly decorated for the occasion of the feast. The fresh flowers on the altar and the surrounding area were aesthetically arranged giving an aura of elegance and solemnity to the feast. The choir, excellently trained by Oswald D' Souza and team, for the special occasion lifted the spirit of those who attended the annual festive mass with their melodious and enchanting singing to the tunes
of the keyboard.
A large number of parishioners and devotees from neighboring parishes attended the festal Holy Mass and shared their joy on the occasion.
