New Delhi, May 20: In yet another possible hurdle in the release of The Da Vinci Code, Sony Pictures, the India distributors of the controversial movie, today said it saw no need to put in a disclaimer at the beginning of the film as ordered by the Censor Board.

"We appreciate the clear 'A' certificate we have got from the Censor Board without any cuts, but we have told the Board that at the end credits of the film, we have a legal card that states that characters and incidents are fictitious and we don't believe there is any need to modify this card," Vikramjit Roy, official spokesperson for Sony, told PTI here.

"We are in dialogue with the Board about this," Roy said in Mumbai, adding that the company did not feel there was any need for additional or modified language.

The legal card reads as follows: "The characters and incidents portrayed and the names herein are fictitious and any similarity to the name, character or history of any person is entirely coincidental and unintentional".

While clearing the film on Thursday, the Censor Board had asked for the addition of a ‘disclaimer’ to the beginning and the end of the film stating "the film is a work of pure fiction and has no correspondence to historical facts of the Christian religion".
