Kolkata, Jan 30 (IANS): Bollywood filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh Thursday said Indian cinema needs to go global and subtitles can help audiences worldwide understand and appreciate the films.
"We should be looking at global cinema. There's no reason why our films cannot go out there with subtitles," Ghosh said during a session at the third Kolkata Literary Meet here.
He stressed on how critical it is to capture the audience's attention.
"Primary battle inside a cinema hall is to grab the audience's attention. People are more conscious of their time."
Filmmaker Aparna Sen, one of the panelists, highlighted the importance of innovation during filmmaking.
"We have to constantly think on our feet and try to innovate. We try to work with existing resources."
Music composer Shantanu Moitra shed light on the aspect of amalgamating art and the market.
"Art cannot be left completely to the market forces. Both have to co-exist," he said, adding that internet and technology have provided a platform to regional artists and singers to showcase their talent.
