Kundapur: 25-year-old killed in bike-bus collision

Kundapur, Jan 17: A youth was killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a bus and a bike here on Thursday January 16 evening.

The incident occurred on the state highway between Goliangadi Hikadi.

The eldest son of Dasanakodlu residents Narasimha Naik and Parvathi Bai, Raghavendra Naik (25) is the person identified to have died in the accident.

Raghavendra who was running a grocery shop at Mavinakatte Vandar earlier, had recently started working as a supervisor at a stone quarry near Hiliana. He was riding his Discovery bike from Halady to Goliangadi when the bus transporting Sabarimale pilgrims collided with the bike.

It is said that the bus was coming back after leaving Sabarimale pilgrims at Hebri. The impact was such that the bike and the rider were dragged for a distance of nearly fifteen feet after the collision and the bike had gone under the bus.

The bus driver fled the spot soon after the accident.

Raghavendra was said to have been the breadwinner of his family. He leaves behind his younger brother and parents.

A case has been registered in Shankarnarayana police station.

    In the photo it is very clear that bus was in its side and bike raider may hit the bus.

    It's unfortunate and sad that the lone breadwinner of the family died. May his soul rest in peace . May almighty god grant peace and courage to the family to bear the untimely loss of their beloved family member
