Doha, May4: Nigel Pereira once again confirmed that he is the undisputed champion speaker of Qatar by winning the International Speech segment of the IBQ Communicator Awards 2006. He pulled off a hat-trick by winning this competition three years in now. Nigel is seen here with his three beautiful trophies from 2004, 2005 & 2006.
Organized by ICC-One Toastmasters, the judge’s panel comprised of multinational experts from the English Faculty of the University of Qatar. Many diplomats and other dignitaries attended this event.
Nigel spoke on ‘Forgiveness – the extinct species’ and highlighted how in today’s fast paced life the trait of forgiving seems to be dying.
The main sponsor was the IBQ (International Bank of Qatar). General Manager Michael Williams presented Nigel with winning cheque, trophy and many other gifts.
Nigel is a second year pre-medical student with Weill Cornell Medical College of Qatar and is also a recipient of a fellowship awarded by Cornell University, New York. He will be shortly traveling to the home campus in Ithaca, New York to conduct a 3 month long intensive research programme under the guidance of Robert Gilmour Jr. Ph.D. His field of research will deal with ventricular fibrillation and sudden cardiac arrest using canine models.
