Mangalore, Dec 22: To wish and make sick people and their family members happy, a Christmas programme was organized by Spandana Trust in the hall of Sisters of Charity, Infant Mary’s Convent on Saturday December 21. The programme was presented by Amritha Self Help group.
Sr Sylvia Fernandes, superior of Infant Mary’s Convent was the president of the programme. Sr Evangeline, administrator of Spandana Trust, Victor Vas, Programme co-ordinator and Theertha, social worker were present on the dias. Evelyn Lobo from Amritha Self Help Group welcomed each and everyone for the programme.
Sr Sylvia in her presidential speech explained the meaning of Christmas and why Jesus Christ was born as a human being, even though He was God. She said that Jesus Christ is protects and loves us. With this motto Sisters of Charity works and helps the poor and downtrodden people. "Jesus Christ has welcomed those who carry the burden, so that He will lighten it and give us the peace of life. On the other hand we also should learn from Him to help each other and strive for peace," she said. She stressed that people should live with brotherly feeling and enjoy Christmas which is approaching. She wished the gathering peace and love of Christmas.
A cultural programme was organized by the Self Help Group giving the message of Christmas that one should help each other and those who are in need. A dance was also performed conveying the message of togetherness, followed by a Christmas song.
Celine compered the programme and Evelyn proposed the vote of thanks.
