Kasargod: Man gets 10 years in jail for raping 5-year-old niece

Kasargod, Dec 18: Kasargod district and sessions court on Tuesday sentenced a man to ten years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 for raping his minor niece.

Maruthi (40), who is from Davangere, Karnataka by origin is the person convicted of the crime.  He was staying in Kanangad in a rented house.

The incident had occurred on April 17, 2013.  He had raped the daughter of his sister, a five-year-old child.  As the child fell ill, she was admitted to the Kanangad district hospital where the doctors confirmed that she was raped.

A case was registered in Hosadurga police station in this regard.  The accused went into hiding and was finally arrested on April 29. 

The police questioning went on for months followed by filing of chargesheet in the court. There were sixteen witnesses.

    When projected PM candidate felicitates such persons, such crimes definitely not going to abate.
    Who does not want free felicitations for such crime. Such people are celebrities with
    keeping them on the pedestal and garlanding.
    It is not correct blaming the Government altogether for such increase in crimes. Any amendment to some laws takes such a long time to be passed in the Parliament with certain political party always\ many a times deliberately holding up parliament sessions shamelessly for their selfish benefit, there by causing delays for implementing everything.
    After all these type of crimes are done o the spur of the moment and in remote\unguarded areas\inside houses,bldgs. Govt. only can apprehend the culprits and punish them "as per existing laws".

    For a change this particular case is really fast tracked and punishment meted out with in 6 months from the time crime was committed.
    Hope all such cases are fast tracked and culprits punished "Whoever they are" This is very important.

    this fellow will be out in 10 years and the girl who will be a teenager then has to face this devil and has to live with the constant fear of confronting her rapist throughout!

    VISITING EVERYDAY TO THE POLICE STATION AND COURT - WAITING FOR HIS TURN IS MORE THAN THE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT AND ONE CANT DARE DO THE CRIME AGAIN THOSE WHO EXPERIENCED SPENT THEIR DAYS AND HOURS IN THE COURT !!!
    SO PEOPLE !! WHEN THE VERDICT COMES OUT FROM THE COURT THE CONVICTED FEEL RELAXED EVEN HE HAS SENTENCED TO DEATH !!!

    10 years imprisonment and 2000/- is not well deserved punishment for such a brutal crime. Such should be given capital punishment.

    If we look at public reaction on any crime in India,it depends on which religion/community's member did it.If in case it is from minority community then hue n cry will be as high as sky but it will be opposite if by others.

    Until unless we condemn the misdeeds unbiased ,such things never going to end.

    the best thing2do is cut off these peoples manhood who ever does this crime.so when he comes out of jail he wont b able2do it again.and who ever does this crime on small children hang them in public,its the time2change the law in india

    What is happening to Indian society? Is rape is a culture like corruption? Lame duck Indian government cannot manage the country. We need a dictatorship to get rid of the menace that is prevailing in India. How many rapes occur in Saudi Arabia?

    Dear Mrs Rao....
    Seems yours is a late entry in this forum. For 'scums' of these sorts there are crushing shops here in Kadri, Bijai with branches in Kuwait and now also in Ireland.While Indian law will take it's own course to deliver justice, these shops will deliver it 'quickrrrrrr' and more effectively. Just a matter of time
    and I think these shop's too will get a legal tag.The 'Proprietrix'
    of one such shop may comment any moment here now....

    India is progressing very well with rape cases. child own blood has not spared . what is left on this earth. If Indian govt has little bit shame then for sure they will act without any wasting minutes and find a best solution to avoid such incidence around. India ?
