Kundapur: 15-year-old girl commits suicide for Rs 200

Kundapur, Nov 29: In a tragic incident, a teenage girl allegedly ended her life at her residence here on Friday November 29.
The deceased has been identified as Shubha (15), daughter of Shiva and Baby, residents of Moodu Giliyar, Nethaji Nagar, Kota. Her father is a fisherman in Kerala, while mother is a daily wager.
It is said that on the night of Thursday November 28, Shubha had asked her mother to give her Rs 200, but the mother told her that she did not have the money and she would give once her father came home from Kerala on Friday evening. This had angered Shubha, sources said.
On Friday morning, Shubha got ready for school and so did her younger brother. Her mother too left for work as usual. However, as she was not feeling well, the mother came back home at around 10.30 am and found Shubha's door locked from inside. She called her neighbours, and with their help the door was broken. To their utter shock, Shubha was found hanging.
Shubha was studying in the 9th standard at Vivek Girls High School, Kota, in the English medium. It is said that she was good at academics as well as sports.
Apart from her parents, Shubha is survived by younger brother Karthik who is in 5th standard.
Kota circle inspector Arun Naik visited the spot. Vivek school principal and staff also visited.
Kota police have registered the case.
