BRICS anti-trust officials sign Delhi Accord

New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS): Anti-trust authority officials from the five BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Friday signed the Delhi Accord to strengthen the relationship between the BRICS competition authorities.

The accord was signed on the final day of the 3rd BRICS International Competition Conference (ICC) here. BRICS competition regulatory authority officials met over two days to discuss issues such as enforcement of competition laws vis-a-vis state-owned enterprises, public procurement and creation of competition culture.

"BRICS competition authorities while recognising the benefits of technical cooperation among the competition agencies, in sound and effective enforcement of competition laws expressed their resolve and commitment to exchange views on different aspects of competition policy," a corporate affairs ministry statement said.

The heads of the BRICS competition authorities also recommended the publication of the material of the 3rd BRICS ICC on their respective websites for the purpose of competition advocacy, the statement added.
