Udupi, Nov 20: It's Christmas time and it's time for carols, cakes, dance and celebrations. It’s one of the most awaited seasons of the year; pleasant weather, pleasant music, vacations, sweets, visiting the families, relations etc add to the celebrations all around.
This Christmas season will be very memorable and cherishing for the people of Brahmavar. The youths of Holy Family Church have chalked out plans to give a delightful December gift to Brahmavarites in the form of ‘Nathal Sobhann’, an inter-parish Christmas completion of carols, dance and tableaux at the Udupi diocesan level.
ICYM Brahmavar, the forum that brings together and unites the youth of Holy Family Church will be hosting the Nathal Sobhann-2013 at 2 pm on Sunday December 1, at the open grounds of Holy Family Church, Brahmavar.
The ICYM Unit of Brahmavar has been providing a united forum to the parish youth to come forward and hone their skills and display talent. Eversince its inception 3 years ago, ICYM Brahmavar has been instrumental in bringing the youth together and channelling their energies for good causes. Under the guidance of parish priest Fr Anthony Vas and youth animators Steven Lewis, Noel Lewis and Celestine D’Almeida, ICYM has always shown interest in parish activities and has taken leadership in several programmes of the church.
The talented youth have been trained to take up responsibility and fulfil their duties. This has borne immense fruit as the current ICYM president of Udupi diocese Ivan D’Silva and Kallianpur deanery ICYM president Lester Pais are members of ICYM Brahmavar.
With the support and guidance of the parish priest and youth animators and under the leadership of Princeton Pinto, ICYM Brahmavar is now all set to host inter-parish Christmas competition ‘Nathal Sobhann-2013’ at Brahmavar for the parishioners of Udupi diocese. It is for the first-time that a diocese-level competition is being organized in Brahmavar. It’s an ambitious project and would give parish youth another opportunity to display not only their talents but also their leadership qualities.
Most of the parishes of Udupi diocese have confirmed their participation in ‘Nathal Sobhann’, a first-of-its-kind experiment in the vicinity. The completion is open to all and the winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 11,111 and certificate while the first and second runners-up will be awarded cash prize of Rs 7,777 and Rs 3,333 respectively.
The entry is still open to all the parishes of the Udupi diocese. Those who would like to participate in the competition should enrol themselves on or before November 22.
