Mangalore: Pre Unique - St Agnes College, Sharada School emerge champions

Mangalore, Nov 16: Pre Unique, the two-day state-level intellectual and cultural fest hosted by St Aloysius PU College ended on a high note here on Saturday November 16.
St Agnes College bagged the overall championship in PU category and Sharada High School in high school category.
The runner-up in college category was Sharada PU College and in high school category the spot was bagged by St Theresa high school. Host St Aloysius PU College was not eligible for the overall championship.
Students from as many as 63 PU colleges and 14 high schools showcased their talents in the two-day event.
The valedictory ceremony of the event was held at the college Pretorium on Saturday November 16 wherein Fr Francis Xavier Gomes, administrator of Milagres Group of Institutions was the chief guest. Fr Elvis C Lewis, principal of the St Aloysius PU College presided.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Gomes said, "Being an alumni, when I entered this college after 35 years, I recalled the days spent in this college. Since then, the college has achieved greater heights," he said.
Pointing out that fests enable students to develop their personality and intellectuality, Fr Gomes said participation in activities is what makes a difference in life.
He further said cultural programmes give happiness to heart. "Education alone cannot help you to achieve success in life," he said.
Citing the names of a few great personalities who have achieved success in various fields, he said dedication helped them in achieving success and asked students to follow the same.
Asking students to give importance to four aspects in life, which are education, skills, health and ethics, he said for any work, blessings of parents and teachers is most important.
Fr Elvis Lewis said, "This year Pre Unique has achieved another milestone and has created a benchmark." He lauded students and people who put in months of hard work to make this event a huge success.
Kiran Shetty welcomed the gathering while Sujith Kumar proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Bhavana Baglodi.
Anitha Rego, PTA vice-president, Rekha Alva, vice-principal, joint conveners Geetha Nambiar, Arun D’Souza, student conveners Vaibhav D’Souza, Suhas B S, Neil Rego, Gavin Rodrigues, Abigail Fernandes, Caroline D’Souza among others were present.
