Bhatkal, Apr 7: "Section 144 which was imposed in the city following communal riots last week has now been vacated from Thursday April 6 evening," said deputy commissioner Ritesh Kumar Singh.

He thanked people of both Hindu and Muslim the communities for cooperating during the car festival of Lord Hanumantha.  "So the Section 144 which was imposed these days has now been vacated as peace is prevailing in the city.  However, the security personnel will continue on duty for few more days till everything falls back to the track," he added.

The car festival of Lord Hanumantha was a big success despite 800 policemen led by SP Ravi, DC Ritesh Kumar Singh, CPI Jayanth Shetty and others formed a tight security.  For the first time ever metal detector was installed during the fest.
