Mangalore, Apr 4: State Bank of India staff are on a strike for an indefinite period beginning from Monday April 3. Already, the first day's strike has caused numerous problems to the customers as all banking transactions including the ATM services have come to a standstill.
The state bank officials as well as staff began their strike placing various demands before the administration. More than 1, 10,000 staff from 9,000 SBI branches are on a strike.
The nation-wide strike had its effect in the city too. The staff of all SBI branches in and around the city gathered in front of the main branch here and shouted slogans.
Along with all SBI branches, even the SBI ATMs have been shut down from Monday. If the strike goes for a few more days, surely the customers will be the worst sufferers as this is the beginning of a new month as well as the beginning of a new fiscal year.
