Karkala, Nov 10: A question has come up whether former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam is a supporter of BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi, or if his image has been used for propaganga without his knowledge.
Banner cutouts depicting Narendra Modi as the next Prime Minister are hung all over the state. Picture of former president of India, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam in the banner has raised eyebrows among the people.
In a press release, human rights activist H K Sridhar Shetty of Hebri has questioned the move.
"Presidents and former Presidents are not the assets of any political party. They cannot be projected as leaders of a party. No politician can misuse the pictures of Presidents and former Presidents of the country," the release stated.
"However BJP-supported Namo Brigade has displayed the picture of Dr Kalam in its banners as part of its election campaign, which is inappropriate," said Sridhar Shetty in the statement.
