Mangalore, Apr 2: The Abacus Learning of Higher Arithmetic (ALOHA) learning centre at Kulshekar was inaugurated on Sunday, April 02, 2006. The XV centre in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district was inaugurated in Pinto Complex, near MCC Bank, Kulshekar by parish priest of Kulshekar church Fr Gregory Vas.

The Abacus Learning of Higher Arithmetic (ALOHA) learning centre Kulshekar which organized a presentation and live demonstration about ALOHA had an overwhelming response. With the centre being formally opened, summer camp batches will begin from April 3. Two classes of two hours each in a week will be conducted. These students will complete their Level I in April-May.

Regular batches will be held from June onwards.

The ALOHA is a brain development programme intended to improve children's ability to calculate sums mentally, listening skills and also the ability to concentrate on academic subjects. The ALOHA is basically meant for children between the age group of 6 and 14 years as the grasping power of the children at this age is the best.

On Sunday, April 2, Mohan Balnad, founder of the first ALOHA Learning Centre in Mangalore demonstrated the ALOHA concept with two ALOHA students Manu and Meghana who impressed the crowd by solving the sums with an amazing speed.

Headmistress of Sacred Heart Higher Primary School, Kulshekar was the chief guest. Mohammed Rafique, resource person and Pramod D’Souza, proprietor of the Kulshekar centre were also present on the occasion.

Over 61 students have already contacted the centre to be a part of the ALOHA learning programme.
