Udupi, Nov 6: "The lives of great personalities like Mahatma Gandhiji and Swami Vivekananda should inspire the youth. Only then can youth play an important role in the development of the country," said Urban development and district in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
He addressed the gathering after inaugurating the state-level NSS special camp for girls organized by Pre-University Board, Bangalore, NSS and St Lawrence Pre-University college from November 5 to November 11.

"Swami Vivekananda propagated religious tolerance. On the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary, President Pranab Mukherjee had released Rs 15 crore to Rama Krishna Mission to celebrate and organize social activities across the country.
"Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts are known for providing quality education, nevertheless, students here should engage themselves in more sports activities.

We have a culture which respects women, but they still need to strive to prove themselves," he said.
