New Delhi, Oct 28 (IANS): Agriculture and food experts from across India will meet next month to discuss policy interventions and changes required to make food security sustainable.
Organised by Gene Campaign, a research and advocacy organisation working on food, nutrition and livelihood security, the meet will see development of a charter of demands that will be submitted to the central government for further action.
"We need to come together urgently since the situation with respect to food, farming and farmers is grim. Food prices are going through the roof and ironically, the farmer who feeds the nation is not able to feed his own family," said Suman Sahai, chairperson of the Gene Campaign.
The Nov 9 event is part of the 20 years celebrations of the gene campaign that works for conservation of traditional seeds.
Fusion band Advaita will also perform on the occasion.
