Bangalore, Oct 27: Minister for Home, K J George, led a group of 800 health workers belonging to the Catholic Health Association of India in pledging their eyes. He exhorted the 3,500 units of CHAI to devote their lives for bringing health care to the rural masses at the concluding program of the CHAI 70th anniversary celebration at the St John’s National Health Academy.
Archbishop of Bangalore, Bernard Moras challenged the health units of the Church to adhere to values and principles and ensure that affordable health care is provided to the poor people.
Fr Tomy Thomas, director general of CHAI presented its various programs for the future. A childrens’ health club and a social workers forum were inaugurated at the program.
Project Vision program led by Fr George Kannanthanam was launched to initiate movement to promote eye donations. All the 800 participants of the program pledged their eyes and also offered to work for this cause through their health centres.
CHAI presented awards to various people for their dedicated work for the health sector.
