Kundapur, Nov 7: A complaint has been filed at the Kundapura Police Station against two individuals for using abusive language, physically attacking a duty doctor, and disrupting hospital operations by scattering important documents, at the Government Hospital in Kundapura.

The incident occurred on the night of November 3 at the Kundapura Taluk Government Hospital, with Dr Moorthiraj, who was on duty at the time, filing the complaint. The accused are identified as Nagaraj Ganiga, the husband of a patient named Radha, and a woman who was accompanying them.

According to the complaint, around 11:15 pm on November 3, Radha and her friend arrived at the hospital seeking treatment for abdominal pain. Dr Moorthiraj, along with nurse Shobha, examined Radha and advised her to be admitted as an in-patient. At that time, Dr. Moorthiraj gave the case sheet to Nagaraj Ganiga, instructing him to admit Radha as an in-patient. However, Nagaraj and Radha reportedly decided to leave the hospital, stating they would not proceed with the admission.

At approximately 11:45 pm, Nagaraj allegedly re-entered the hospital, verbally abused Dr Moorthiraj, and physically attacked him inside the room. It is also claimed that Nagaraj overturned documents from the table and took Radha’s case sheet with him before leaving the premises.

In response to the incident, the Udupi District president of the Karnataka Government Doctors' Association, Dr Nagesh, led a team of doctors in submitting a petition to the Kundapura DySP, urging appropriate action against the accused individuals.

The association condemned the attack and called for strict legal measures to ensure the safety of medical professionals on duty.
