New Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS): A Delhi court Tuesday extended by 15 days the interim bail of four friends of NRI student Anmol Sarna who died after a drug party in the capital. All four are facing drug abuse charges.
Additional Sessions Judge Rajender Kumar Shastri extended the bail of Madhav Bhandari, Pranil Shah, Shivank Gambhir and Rythm Girhotra, all in their 20s, till Nov 6, observing that even the case's investigating officer does not claim any incriminating material against them.
The four, who were on bail till Oct 22, moved the court pleading for extension of the bail which was granted on Oct 7.
The judge allowed their plea saying they were bound by the earlier terms and conditions imposed on them.
In the order, the court said: "...results of viscera as well as blood and urine tests of the applicants (Anmol's four accused friends) and deceased (Anmol) are still awaited. Even the IO (Investigating Officer) does not claim any further incriminating material against any applicants."
"IO is hopeful that reports will be ready in 15-20 more days. Considering all this, interim bail of the applicants is extended upto Nov 6 on same terms and conditions..."
Two security guards - Surender Bali, 40, and Naresh Mishra, 60 - who allegedly thrashed Sarna Sep 13 night at the South Park Apartments in Kalkaji area in south Delhi are imprisoned in Tihar jail.
Sarna, 21, who had completed his high school from New York, was to go to Canada for further studies but died after a drug party at his friend's flat in Kalkaji Sep 13 night.
Police said the party lasted till midnight after which Sarna was thrashed by the guards for creating a ruckus in the complex. Around 2 a.m. Sarna was found bleeding in the apartment complex. He later died in hospital.
Investigators said the two guards were arrested for assaulting Sarna while his four friends were taken into custody for drug abuse.
