Kerala, Oct 18: Carmelite Formators’ Centre-India (CFCI) under the auspices of The General Definitory of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites organized one month Spiritual Directors’ Course from September 15 to October 18 at Atmdarshan,Aluva-Kerala.
This course was organized in collaboration with OCD Interprovincial Conference, OCD Major Superiors’ Conference of EAST ASIA-OCEANICA and OCD Major Superiors’ Conference of English—Speaking Africa. Fr. Augustine Mulloor OCD,Definitor General for formation inaugurated the course. Speaking on the occasion Fr. Mulloor emphasized on the importance of spiritual direction today and explained the purpose of the course in India. “We need to take spiritual direction seriously. So Spiritual journey should lead us with the identification of the spirit.”he said further. “Radical way of living our inward journey will help us to become a resource for transforming the society.” he opined.
Dr Gregory D’souzaOCD, Dr Datius Kanjiramukkil OCD,Dr George Manale VC and Dr Benjamin Elias OCD were the resource persons who dealt with Spiritual Direction: San Juanist Teaching and Example,Spiritual Direction: Teresian Teaching and Example,Psycholgy and Spiritual Direction and Theological Foundation of Spiritual Direction respectively. Group discussions and personal reflections were included in this course. Panel Discussion was a part of this course where the resource persons along with Dr. George Varghese OCD answered queries raised by the participants and the religious gathered.
Carmelites from Indonesia,Nigeria,Tanzania and India participated in the course.
Fr Jacob Paralliparambil OCD,Provincial,Manjummel province of the Discalced Carmelites,delivering his valedictory message appealed to the participants to remember the the Lord dwells within us to strengthen relationship with Jesus and serve others. The certificates were distributed at the hands of Fr Athanasius D’Almeida OCD. Fr. Ciprianus OCD ,Director, Atma Darshan spoke on this occasion . Fr Ibrahim Rebeiro OCD of Indonesia Commissariat thanked the organizers on behalf of the participants
