Mangalore, Mar 17: The Rehabilitation Council of India and St Agnes Special Teacher Training Institute for Special Education, Mangalore organised a Continuing Rehabilitation Education Programme for rehabilitation professionals recently in its institute at Bendore.

The five-day programme was planned with the objective of upgrading the skills of rehabilitation professionals.

Deputy director, Women and Child Welfare Department Gertrude Veigas, inaugurated the programme. Speaking on the occasion she upheld the teaching profession and encouraged the teachers to consider their work as a service to the less privileged and not to work for reward.

Secretary Apostolic Carmel Education Society Dr Sr Lydia Fernandes presided over the programme.

A total of 24 special educators from DK, Udupi and Kasargod districts participated in the programme.
The resource persons  included Dr Jayashree Bhat, associate professor, Audiology Speech and Language Pathology Department, KMC, Sr Severine, lecturer, St Aloysius College, School of Social Work, Flossy D'Souza, St Ann's College of Education, Pramila Martin, course cordinator, TTI, KPAMRC, Bangalore and Dr Venkatesh, HOD, Clinical Psychology, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore.
