Mangalore, Mar 17: Family Service Agency in collaboration with School of Social Work and Rural Development Forum of Roshni Nilaya organized a daylong workshop for the youth of Madhyapadav, Krishnapur and Pavoor Uliya on Sunday March 12. The workshop was held at the Seminar Hall of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya.
The UGC sponsored youth awakening programme began with the interaction with the participants. The resource person of the day, Fr Francis Serrao, rector of the St Aloysius Institutions analyzed the need for building leadership qualities.
He sowed the seed of knowledge, there by enabling them to reflect on their present situation. Three students from Anekal presently pursing their studies in St Aloysius College shared their experience, the problems, and struggles for their own development.
Nithin Kumar made the participants more lively and active with varied exercises and games based on leadership. He stressed on competency, hard work, self-respect, confidence and compromise, which are the pillars essential in building a good leader.
Student placed for field practice in these communities (Soniya, Vidya Shree, Ganeshmurthy, and Karen Lobo) and the Rural Development Forum were actively involved in the workshop. Students of NITK- Suratkal were also present at the workshop. The staff of Family Service Agency Sunila, and Anitha along with the director Evelyn Benis, DHM coordinated the programme. A total number of 65 youth participated in the workshop.
