New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS): A court here Tuesday dismissed the bail plea of Mohammad Zakaria, father-in-law of LeT bomb expert Abdul Karim Tunda, arrested in a case of allegedly helping in infiltration of Pakistani and Bangladeshi militants into India in 1997.
Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash rejected bail plea of Zakaria, who had claimed that he was falsely implicated by the special cell of Delhi Police.
The court said the case is relating to terror activities and at this stage, bail cannot be granted.
Advocate M.S. Khan, appearing for Zakaria, told the court that he has been arrested on the basis of the disclosure statement of his son-in-law Tunda and contended the disclosure of an accused is not a substantive piece of evidence.
Opposing the bail plea, police argued he was involved in helping various Pakistani and Bangladeshi terrorists to infiltrate into India to carry out terror strikes across the country.
The investigation was at a crucial stage and Zakaria should not be granted bail considering the seriousness of the case, police added.
On Monday, Zakaria's judicial custody was extended till Oct 28.
