Mangalore, Mar 16: Senior Tulu theatre personality I Seetharam Shetty will be given the Sweekar Award instituted by Sweekar Sahitya Samskritika Koota, Kankanady on Sunday March 19 at Town Hall.

Briefing the press persons on the same, member of the selection committee of Sweekar Awards Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvali said that the awards will carry a cash prize of Rs 4,000 and a citation.

The award ceremony will be inaugurated by senior litterateur Aerya Lakshmi Naraya Alva and Tejaswini Hospital managing director Dr M Shantharam Shetty will preside over the programme.

The award will be presented by Tulu Sahitya Academy president Setharam Kulal. Theatre personality P Sanjeeva Dandakeri will be the chief guest of the programme. Social worker Sadashivadas Pandeshwara and theatre artiste Prabhakar Kalyani will be felicitated at the programme.

'Gurudakshina' an Yakshagana performance will be staged in which popular Yakshagana artistes such as Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvali, Sunnambala Vishweshwara Bhat, Devakithanaya Kudlu, Kadri Navaneeth Shetty will perform while Patla Sathish Shetty, Guruprasad Bolinjadka and Kalmadka Shankar Bhat will be in the Himmela.
