Dharmasthala people condemn allegations against Dr Heggade's family

Beltangady, Oct 14: The people of Dharmasthala on Monday October 14 assembled at Mahotsava hall in Dharmasthala here to condemn the allegations against Dharmasthala temple head Dr D Veerendra Heggade's family in the rape and murder of Sowjanya who was killed in October last year. The allegations were made by Sowjanya's parents and Hindu leader Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi on a Kannada news channel.
Narayana Noorithaya, Chandan Kamath, Seetharam Tholpadithaya, Haridasa Gambhira, Balakrishna Poojary and Chandrahasa spoke expressing their dissatisfaction over the broadcast and prayed that Sri Majunathaswamy, Annappaswamy and other Gods and Goddesses may punish those who made unfounded allegations.
The gathering also prayed for the departed soul of Sowjanya and urged for CBI probe to impart justice to the family of the victim.
Advocate Keshava Belalu spoke and said that the investigation is delayed due to loopholes in law and technical reasons. The misconceptions and doubts will be cleared by producing proper records, he said.
Mass prayer
All the villagers in the hall went to the temple, prayed together and submitted offerings to God. They prayed to lord Manjunthaswamy to ward off difficulties and impart justice.
Gram panchayat president Geetha, Temple manager N R Udupa, Parshwanath Jain, A V Shetty, Dhanakeerthi Ariga, Subhaschandra Jain and Shishupal Poovani were present.

Bantwal, Oct 14: A forum of like-minded people in the taluk has condemned the recent programme in a news channel in which Dr Veerendra Heggade and his family were blamed for the rape and murder of Sowjanya.
The meeting held on Sunday October 13 at BC Road was presided over by former zilla panchayat member A C Bhandary. "The (television) programme which raised questions against a personality like Dr Veerendra Heggade should be condemned," he said.
“The Dharmasthala area is being developed in economic, social and educational fields due to Dr Heggade’s far sightedness. The action of the media will adversely affect the progress in the region,” opined leaders at the meeting.
Former MLA Padmanabha Kottari, A Rukmaya Poojary, Dharma Jagarana Pratisthana president Kaiyur Narayan Bhat, leaders of various associations G Ananda, D M Kulal, B M Idinabba and others were present.
