Mangalore, Mar 15: "Meet with the Memories", a gathering of the Mangalore University PG Old Students Association (Silver Jubilee Batch) has been organized on Sunday March 18 at the Yakshagana Kalamandira in the varsity campus.
This was announced by Sibanthi Padmanabh, journalist and secretary of the association in a press conference here on Wednesday March 15 morning.
Padmanabh said that almost every department of the university has an alumni association. But there has been no collective alumni association, which would bring together all old students of the university. "Having known about this, we have decided to pool up all the PG students who have studied in the university in the last 25 years. However, it is quite difficult to bring them together at one go. So presently we have organized the meet of only the silver jubilee batch. Through these students we will try to get in touch with all those who have completed their post graduation from the university," added Padmanabh.
The Sunday's gathering has been named "Meet with the Memories." The gathering will be inaugurated by varsity alumni and noted columnist Pratap Simha. Senior folklore scholar Amrit Someshwar will preside over the get-together of the old students. Cultural programme has also been organized after the meeting.
More than 400 old students are expected to attend this ''first-of-its-kind' meeting, said Rajesh Padmar, president of the association.
Treasurer Pradeep Hegde was also present at the press conference.
