Doha: Defending champions KSQ Wizards reign supreme at TKQ Quiz

Doha, Oct 12: Defending champions KSQ Wizards represented by Deepak Shetty and Arun Kumar once again proved that they are the real champions by topping the second Tulu Koota Quiz competition. They overcame a spirited challenge and a late surge by Gadinada Garnals represented by Raghavendra and Lakshmi with relative ease and confirmed again that they are head and shoulders above the rest in quizzing.
The event was held at the Al Jazeera Academy premises here on Friday October 11 evening.
Earlier the evening also saw the emergence of another young talent Vaidehi Poojary in Spelling Bee contest. In the finals consisting of Top-6 who were chosen through a preliminary round, Vaidehi was the clear winner over the rest. In fact she had the trophy in her bag by the end of second round as she surged ahead with full points from the beginning. It was catching-up time for the other finalists and after grueling tie-breakers Sathvik Bhat bagged the first runners-up trophy while Sanvi Shetty went home with the second runners-up trophy. Marylyn Rego, Krish and Smriti Bhat were the other finalists.
The Spelling Bee contest was hosted by young and dashing Raksha Raj. The team comprising of Harish Poojary, Archana Shetty, Padmashree Shetty, Santhosh Bhandary and Sandesh Anand
Top six teams were selected for the finals of quiz through a written preliminary round consisting of 40 questions. Mumbai Indians consisting of Lat and Kavya Bangera, Dynamic Duo Diwakar and Aditya Karkera, Mangalorean Quiz Team of Raj Francis Rodrigues and Johnson Quadros and Putturda Mutthu consisting of Karthik and Kirthan, Gadinada Garnals represented by Raghavendra and Lakshmi and KSQ Wizards represented by Deepak Shetty and Arun Kumar made it to the finals.
Acclaimed Toast Master, orator Raj Shekhar Bappal was the quiz master. He was supported in the background by a team consisting of Harish Poojary, Santhosh Bhandary, Nitesh D, Sandesh Anand and Kiran Anand had put in efforts in preparing quiz by conducting extensive research.
The Quiz Contest and Spelling Bee contest was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by Shankaralingam, deputy CEO of Ahli Bank, Seetharam Shetty, president of Tulu Koota Qatar and executive committee members of the Tulu Koota.
Seetharam Shetty welcomed the gathering and Supriya Bhat proposed the vote of thanks.
Padmashree Shetty was the compere for the evening while Uday Shetty kept the audience busy with a few spot and fun games.
