New Delhi, Oct 8 (IANS): The Congress Tuesday expressed concern over the ongoing protests in the Seemandhra and appealed to the people of the region "to give up their agitation so that a solution to benefit both sides be arrived at".
"We are deeply concerned about the agitation in Seemandhra," Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh, in charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, said in a statement.
"The Congress party appeals to the people of Seemandhra to give up their agitation so that a healthy dialogue process can move forward and a solution that will benefit both the sides be arrived at," he said.
The Congress assured the people of Seemandhra that it remains committed to "addressing all their concerns particularly with respect to safeguarding the interests of the people living and working in the Telangana region, the concerns over education and employment opportunities in Hyderabad for their youth, the sharing of river and the power issue".
He said a group of ministers formed by the central government would hold detailed consultations with all stake holders on these issues and other sensitive matter.
