Mangalore, Mar 8: The Mangalore Institute of Fashion Technology (MIFT) will celebrate its decennial year along with its annual day celebrations at Town Hall on Thursday March 9 at 5.30 pm. This was informed by MIFT founder M G Hegde.
Speaking to reporters in City on Tuesday March 7, he said that the event will be inaugurated by Mangalore University vice-chancellor Prof M Kaveriappa. Litterateur and HOD Botany MES College, Bangalore, Prof Ravindra Reshme and fashion designer Shanti Mohan will be the chief guests.
Briefing on the achievement of the institute, Hegde said that the graduates and diploma holders from MIFT are well placed in different cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata and in foreign countries like Bangladesh, America and Saudi Arabia. Further the institute has always registered cent per cent results and topped the rank list till date, Hegde said.
The students of the institute have secured awards in the prestigious national-level fashion design competitions.
The institute which was founded in 1996, has already taught seven batches successfully and has been acclaimed as a noted institute of fashion technology across the country, because of its unique plans and programmes, he added.
MIFT has been giving more emphasis on Khadi fashion designing and conducting Khadi fashion show programmes in collaboration with Khadi and Village Industries Board on various occasions.
MIFT principal Sanganagowda Patil and faculty Kasturi Shetty were also present at the press meet.
