New Delhi, Sep 13 (IANS): Three militants from Pakistani Taliban were involved in the killing of Indian author Sushmita Banerjee in Afghanistan, the interrogation of those arrested has revealed.
According to informed sources, the four people arrested Wednesday in Afghanistan and two others held earlier revealed that three militants from Pakistani Taliban killed the Indian.
The Pakistanis reportedly belonged to Punjab province.
The plan to kill Banerjee was hatched in Pakistan and the three militants worked with Akbar Musafir, the local commander of the Afghan Taliban in Paktika province.
Banerjee, 49, was dragged out of her home and shot dead by gunmen in Sharan city Sep 5.
Banerjee had defied her family to marry Afghan businessman Jaanbaz Khan. In 1998, she wrote the bestselling memoir, offering a vivid description of the suffering of women under the Taliban.
