  • Ornaments, articles, electronic goods, vehicles valued at Rs. 50 lakhs recovered 

Bangalore, Feb 21: Commissioner of Police Ajai Kumar Singh on Monday announced that the police have solved 80 cases of theft, robbery, chain snatching and cheating in the past one week and recovered gold ornaments, silver articles, vehicles and electronic goods, all valued at Rs. 50 lakhs.

The Kumaraswamy Layout police claimed to have solved 18 cases of house break-in and theft by arresting two persons from Tamil Nadu. The police have recovered from them gold and silver ornaments and electronic goods, together worth Rs. 11.50 lakhs, they had allegedly stolen from houses in Kumaraswamy Layout, Banashankari and Subramanyapura police station limits.

The arrested were identified as Ramaswamy alias Padmanabha (28) and Vadivelu alias Muruga (26), both from Dharmapuri district. The accused came to the city from Hosur in the evenings, identified locked houses and burgled them late in the night after watching second show movies, the police said.

The HAL police on Sunday February 19, arrested five youths, who were allegedly involved in 12 cases of chain snatching, and recovered from them 12 gold chains, valued at Rs. 1.80 lakhs. The names of the arrested were given as Gulam Gouse, Javed Pasha, and Saleem, residents of Islampura, Javed of Annasandrapalya and Usman of LBS Nagar.

In another case, the Banashankari police on Saturday February 18, arrested Afsar (21) of Kaverinagar on charges of chain snatching and recovered from him a motorcycle and four gold chains, all valued at Rs. 80,000.

The Madivala police have arrested six people on charges of dacoity and recovered from them gold and silver ornaments valued at Rs. 1.60 lakhs. Their names were given as Shankar (34) of Marenahalli, Suresh Kumar (29) of Roopena Agrahara, Ramu (22) of Doddaballapur, Shivakumar (30) of Moodalapalya, Chandra (27) of Magadi Road and Yellappa (22) of Anekal.

The Mahadevapura police on Saturday arrested three of the four youths who had allegedly robbed an American national of cash, a mobile phone and credit cards near Hoody. The police have recovered the mobile phone from the arrested, Sheik Hyder (20), Sheik Bhadur (19) and Asif (19), residents of Shivajinagar.
