Mangalore, Sep 11: The 2013-15 batch of MBA and MCA students at AIMIT campus of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Beeri, commenced their orientation program with the inaugural session on Tuesday September 10.
Fr Denzil Lobo, the rector, Dr Oswald Mascarenhas chairman – MBA programs, the chief guest Amar Lal Daultania – executive director of the Corporation Bank, and accompanying chief guest Gratian Pinto, Santhosh Rebello dean of MCA, and Dr Rowena Wright dean of MBA gathered on the dais to celebrate the occasion.
The session began with a short prayer invoking God’s blessings. Fr Denzil Lobo led the students in prayer, followed by a few word of wisdom as quoted by Swami Vivekananda. He expressed that the world is made of men and women, who had faith in themselves, who believed that nothing was impossible and it was this belief of theirs that that lead them to greater heights. The education at AIMIT is said to be life building, man making, character building and assembling of ideas.
The chief guest of the day Amar Lal Daultania addressed the budding leaders at AIMIT. He said that innovation takes place every now and then, but as MBA students we need to look at the negative side as well. He advised the gathering to keep a track of the changing economic conditions. We cannot keep ourselves secluded from the counties changing trends.
:We need to be in sync with it so that we are in a better position to correctly predict and project the future, or else we will be left out of the race. This was said with special context to the rupee depreciation in India," he said.
The chairman of MBA programs, Dr Oswald Mascarenhas. enlightened the students that above everything, we need to be analysts. A good analyst is the one who not only describes but also explains and make you understand the cause and effect relationship of situations. As MBA’s the students need to be a step ahead of the rest, and have a clear vision and focus.
Last but not the least Fr Pradeep Sequeira delivered a simple, yet meaningful message to the gathering. He said that when problems come they come chasing you, don’t run away. They may be individual or national problems. It is now time to turn around and stare at them. They will eventually begin to drop out one by one.
The function was compared by Yvonil D’souza and Mohammed Saifuddin delivered the vote of thanks.
Fr Denzil Lobo, the Rector, then gave a presentation on the Jesuit tradition and the various activities organized for the MBA and MCA students at AIMIT campus. He also spoke of the vision for this campus. That was followed by a session given by Fr Oswald Mascarenhas on learning and creativity.
