Bahrain, Sep 2: The summer camp finale program organized by the Karnataka Social Club began at12:30 pm on August 30, at the Baan Saeng Thai auditorium.
The summer-campers comprising of over 60 of the members’children were vibrant and dressed in their colorful best, show-cased their talents with much enthusiasm to the delight and applause of their parents.
Volunteers from the ladies wing ably assisted by the entertainment team of KSC were thoroughly involved in the running of the summer camp every Friday in July and August for the Summer-campers upto the finale.
The ‘Summer Camp with a difference’ was organized by grouping the children into four teams, named euphorically as “the Anacondas”, “the Vipers”, “the Cobras” and “the Pythons” performing in competition with each other.
The winners among them were “the Pythons” who stood above the rest scoring maximum marks for their display of talents during the camp. Among various games and talents organized for the children, other sessions like music class and tips on musical instruments by Sonia Prabhu, Dental tips by Dr Mamtha Rajesh, basic karate class tips on self-defense by Black Belt expert Dan Ronald Mathias and Yoga classes by Prakash and his team were a hit and well-attended by the children. In the process, they were enriched with further talents.
President, Herald D Botelho welcomed the gathering of over 150 members and thanked all the sponsors for their contributions for this year’s Summer Camp.
The finale program with team leader Eunice D’Souza hosting the program in her inimitable style as the Master of Ceremonies welcomed the audience and introduced the dance programs on stage.
The children grouped up, choreographing themselves in the various filmy and fusion dances and rocked the stage with their dance renditions. Their enthusiastic performances won the hearts of their parents who warmly responded with the applause and appreciation they deserved.
Breanna Rego treated the audience with two solo English number, 'Country Roads' and 'Animal Instinct' on the Spanish guitar.
Summer-camper Clevin Rodrigues gave a brief report of the events held during the camp thanking the organizers, volunteers and well-wishers, and appreciating their time and efforts in the support and conduct of the camp.
He also thanked parents for their support. The contributions given by various club members and well-wishers by way of providing snacks, soft drinks and gifts was acknowledged and appreciated.
He expressed gratitude to all for their support and assistance in making the Summer Camp enjoyable and successful.
All campers were distributed with handy summer-camp gift hampers and the best disciplined among the children, Jason Lobo and Diya Girish were specially rewarded.
Music and spinning of disc at intervals was afforded capably by DJ Clevin Rodrigues all through the program responding to popular request numbers made by the children.
The floor was then left to the KSC Entertainment Team of Bertie Rego and Millard Rodrigues to continue with the rest of the afternoon’s program for the Members and their families.
A birthday bash for August celebrants of the KSC Members’ children with a sing-song- cake cutting ceremony and distribution of birthday gifts to them was also organized.
There was a novelty dance session that brought forth a number of parents to the dance floor with music spun by DJ Clevin.
A membership draw was held; three lucky members received valuable prizes. A sumptuous luncheon was laid by the chefs of ‘Baan Saeng Thai’ restaurant was relished and enjoyed by all.
The summer camp finale concluded with a dance session.
