New Delhi, Aug 27 (IANS): Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who was admitted to hospital Monday night after she was taken ill, is "doing fine" and is resting, union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said here Tuesday.
"She is doing fine and she is resting," Azad told IANS.
Gandhi, 66, was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Monday night after she complained of chest pain in the Lok Sabha when it was debating the food security bill.
Azad later told reporters outside parliament that Gandhi was suffering from "common cold and headache" and had taken some medicines that did not suit her.
She was rushed to hospital and "after initial checkup the doctors found nothing abnormal and all her parameters are perfect", the health minister said.
He said that doctors nevertheless decided to keep her under observation and discharged her around 1.30 a.m., he added.
She had left the Lok Sabha with union Minister Selja and her son and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.
