Bangalore, Aug 10: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has convened a meeting of senior government officials to take a decision on seeking CBI probe into the alleged illegal mining in the State.
It may be recalled that the Congress leaders have been urging the State Government to order the CBI probe into the issue of illegal mining in Bellary and other districts.
The Chief Minister, who spoke to reporters in Bangalore on Saturday, said he would convene a meeting of senior government officials soon before taking any decision on the demand for CBI probe.
Siddaramaiah said the meeting of high-level officials would discuss issues related to the Lokayukta report on illegal mining and other issues related to it.
A final decision on whether to seek the CBI probe or not would be decided only after the meeting, he said pointing out that the State Cabinet will have to take a decision before ordering a CBI investigation on any issue.
He said the State Cabinet will also decide on the demand for constituting a special court to handle the illegal mining cases.
