Mangalore, Aug 9: Raymond D’Cunha, director of MCC Bank Mangalore has been elected president of St Christopher Association (association of Christian vehicle owners and drivers), during its 67th general body meeting, held recently at Rosarion Cultural Hall.
Raymond, a well known journalist from Mangalore is also a governing body member of Konkani Naatak Sabha, Mangalore.
The other elected members are as follows: Vice president - Francis D’Souza, secretary - Herald D’Souza, joint secretaries Denis D’Souza and Leena D’Souza, honourary president - Susheel Noronha, honourary secretary - Alphonse Fernandes, immediate past president - Victor Menezes.
The term will be of one year. The eligibility criteria for membership are holding a driving license that should be presented with the application for membership.
This association is hosting a low cost hostel for the employed and need a shelter during the days of employment. The charges will be nominal.
This association took initiative to start the MACCO society and the MAACO fuel pump at Balmatta which is considered one of the very trustworthy fuel stations for lacs of customers around Mangalore.
This association’s life member family will get Rs 4,000 as funeral expenses of the member when his family members inform the management with a proof of his death.
The association is a dream child of the friends of labors, the Late Fr Fred V Pereira.
Fr J B Crasta, parish priest of Rosario Cathedral is the official treasurer and the bishop of Mangalore is the patron of the association.
