Kundapur, Aug 7: Kundapur taluk level grievance meeting for SC/ST was held in Kundapur taluk panchayat meeting hall on Monday August 5.
“Though the government and departments have implemented several welfare programmes, crores of rupees have been released, but this has not reached the beneficiaries. From the past 14 years, the borewell meant for the purpose of Dalits was misused by private businessmen. Though a complaint was filed with MESCOM against the unlawful electricity connections and negligence attitude of revenue department on misusing government land, there has been no action. Though the Dalits have suffered a lot to obtain drinking water, no one is bothered about it,” said the complainants.
In this regard, a serious discussion was held by Tahsildar Gayathri Nayak and Taluk Panchayath CEO Gopal Shetty and they assured of providing justice after the spot investigation is done.
“From the past two years, Koraga families are shelterless and they don’t know what to do,” said Mohan Chandra Kalavara. President of Koraga Welfare Union Ganesh assured of solving the problem. Tahsildar Gayathri Nayak said that they would take action against contractors after discussing with the Koraga community.
“The government’s programme ‘Ksheera Bhagya’ has been implemented in almost all schools, and in most of the places hot milk provided to children has burnt their tongue and mouth. Don’t implement the programme as in the story of ‘Tenali Rama’ who fed his cat with milk,” said Narayana, Kirimanjeshwara, to officers of Akshara Dasoha.
The discrimination against Dalit fishermen families in Gangolli, without providing A Class Share was raised by Vasudev. It has been decided to take action in the matter after probing this issue.
“In 1982, at Muddooru, 362 acres of land was reserved for 59 scheduled caste and scheduled tribe families. Though 150 acre of trees from this land had been cut off by land owners, no action has been taken by the department,” said Vasudev and social worker Uday Kumar Tallooru joined him. The Thasildar also demanded that the ranger come for spot inspection.
Uday Kumar Tallooru demanded investigation into the discrimination in various departments like agriculture, education, youth, irrigation, social welfare, and horticulture.
