Mangalore, Aug 4: The 46th general body meeting of St Christopher Association (an association of Christian drivers and vehicle owners) was held at Rosarion Cultural Hall at Rosario Church, here, on Sunday August 4.
The Christian vehicles owners with the patron and member of the association Fr Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza offered Holy Mass at Rosario Cathedral Church while Fr J B Crasta , Fr Alwyn D’Souza were the concelebrants.
After the Holy Mass more than 500 vehicles including cars, tempo, scooters, and bikes of the members were blessed by bishop who sprinkled holy water on them.
He was accompanied by honorary president Susheel Noronha, president Victor Menezes, secretary Herald D’Souza, vice secretary Denis D’Souza and Raymond D’Cunha.
The function continued with general body meeting of the association presided over by Mangalore bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza. Walter D’Souza was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, bishop said, “There is nothing more in this association but love to the daily bread earners of their families. May God bless their way as the patron saint of the association St Christopher transported the Lord himself on his shoulder.”
Chief guest Walter D’Souza said to raise membership and make the purpose of the association published, so that there will be a lesson to all by this members of good behavior in driving.
The 15 achievers of the community who are association members and children of members were honoured by the bishop and chief guest.
The new treasurer and spiritual director Fr J B Crasta was welcomed and given in-charge of the post by Bishop. President Victor Menezes welcomed , secretary Herald D’Souza read the yearly report and financial report. Joint secretary Denis D’Souza proposed vote of thanks, while Leena D’Souza and Raymond D’Cunha compered.
Honorary president Susheel Noronha conducted election for new executive members and new office bearers. Vice president Francis D’Souza was present on the dais.
Catholic Sabha president Neizel Periera, AICU vice president Lancy D’Cunha, MACCO society president and vice presidents were present.
