Mangalore, Aug 3: “We strongly condemn the increase in number of cattle thefts taking place in the district. Culprits should be caught at the earliest, failing to which, massive protest to be held during the coming days,” warned Kumar Malemar, state vice president, Sri Rama Sena.
He was addressing a press meet, here on Saturday August 3, at the press club.
“Cattle thefts have been increasing day-by-day, simultaneously the number of illegal slaughter houses are also rising. The police department seems to be ignorant in this regard. We welcome chief minister Siddaramiah’s move of removing BJP government’s Cow Slaughter Act and implementing the old 1964 Act. But even after this cow slaughter has been carried out openly,” he said.
“Sri Ram Sene condemns the act of the gangs operating in Suratkal areas, which carried out cattle thefts by threatening with Talwars and other weapons. Hindu Society should teach a lesson to these culprits. Also the government should give compensation to the families who lost their cattle,” he added.
“It is also a matter of suspicion on the part of MLA Moideen Bawa, who even after knowing this matter did not visit the houses from where the cattle were stolen. But we appreciate Panambur SI Bharathi, who raided and saved nearly 13 cattle on receiving message of illegal slaughter house, even though she was on duty at MLA’s felicitation program,” he said.
If such incidents continue and the culprits are not arrested immediately, then Sri Ram Sene will carry out a massive protest in the coming days, he warned.
Leaders Jeevan Neermarga, Mahesh Bhat, Ganesh Attavar, Mahesh Padavinangady among others were present.
