Sullia: Village accountant caught red-handed by Lokayukta

Sullia, Jul 26: The Lokayukta officials caught a village accountant red-handed while accepting bribe at the taluk office here on Thursday July 25 .

The arrested has been identified as village accountant of Sampaje Vinod Kumar (43) from Madikeri. He was caught while accepting bribe of Rs 3,000 from Mohammed Haneef.

Mohammed Haneef’s sister Naseema had purchased 10 cents land for Rs 1.5 lac at Peradka in Gunadka from Janardhan. In order to make the account changes, Vinod Kumar had placed a demand of Rs 3,000.

In this regard, Haneef informed the Lokayukta officials. As per the directions given by police, on Thursday noon Haneef paid the amount to Vinod Kumar. Meanwhile the Lokayukta officials raided the place and caught him red-handed.

Lokayukta SP Mohandas, inspectors Umesh Shet, Dilip Kumar, Manjayya, officials Sudarshan, Harishchandra, Sudhakar, Bhaskar, Shivakumar, Sharat Chandra, Adhesh, Lokesh, George among others were part of the investigation.

    People should have ba!!$ to fight. Not just sitting numb and keep complaining about, what officials do. Infact now a days almost everyone has a mobile phone with cams. its not an effort to unveil these acts to public.

    These rogue village accountants need to be sacked when they are caught red handed.Entire udupi dist VAs are rogues .they dont even come to office and people have to struggle to get their one signature.looks like even tahsildar also part of the racket otherwise for obtaining many document you dont need VAs signature.When you put few behind the bars fear will get into their system.
