Air passenger traffic down two percent in June


New Delhi, Jul 19 (IANS): Domestic air passenger traffic fell 1.84 percent in June, the civil aviation ministry said Friday.

According to data furnished by the ministry, domestic traffic in June stood at 50.14 lakh, from 51.08 lakh passengers ferried during the corresponding month last year.

The passenger traffic went up 4.81 percent in May at 57.10 lakh.

The passengers carried by domestic airlines during January-June 2013 was marginally up 0.31 percent at 310.12 lakh from 309.16 lakh in the corresponding period of last year.

On a month-on-month basis, the traffic decreased by 12.18 percent as domestic airlines carried 50.14 lakh passengers in the month under review, down from 57.10 lakh in May 2013.

IndiGo had the largest market share of 29.5 percent followed by SpiceJet (19.8 percent), Air India's domestic operations (18.9), Jet Airways (18.1), Go Air (8.9) and Jetlite (5.1 percent).
