Va Tech Wabag bags project in Philippines


Chennai, Jul 19 (IANS): Water and waste water treatment multi-national Va Tech Wabag, partnering with a Philippines construction company, has bagged a World Bank-funded sewage treatment plant order there, said the company.

In a statement issued here Friday, Va Tech Wabag said it is the lead partner in the Rs.344 crore order from Manila Water Company.

The scope of work comprises design and construction of 100 million litres per day (MLD) Ilugin Sewage Treatment Plant for Pasig River Wastewater Catchment, Pasig city, Metro Manila with operation of the plant for a period of two years.

Coleridge Shelley, country head, WABAG Philippines said: "This order is of huge importance to us since this is the largest STP (sewage treatment plant) order from the Philippines."

He said that with the new order coupled with an earlier one for a water treatment plant at Putatan valued at Rs.125 crore, Wabag is a leading player in the waste water market in Philippines.
