Bantwal, Jul 17: A group of six people assaulted a man near Kepu Temple on the night of Sunday July 14. They were said to be armed with lethal weapons.
The victim is Ganesh, 22, son of Annu Poojary, Kepu-Nirkaje. While Ganesh was riding a bike near Kepu Temple, the group allegedly arrived on a bike and a pickup, assaulted him and allegedly tried to kill him.
The intensity of the onslaught caused fractures on Ganesh’s legs and his left hand. He has also suffered injuries to the back of his head. People in the vicinity took him to a private hospital in Puttur.
It is said that Ganesh had been targeted similarly several times in the past and the latest attack is suspected to be in retaliation for some past incident.
Vittal police have taken up the case and are probing the matter. Ganesh also expressed his suspicion about three individuals from Vittal. The police have pegged their investigation on this aspect.
