Mangalore, Jul 13: 'MapReduce in Hadoop', a three-day 'Train the Trainer' programme was inaugurated at St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT) of St Aloysius College Mangalore on July 10 at 9:30 am.
Big Data Analytics and the related 'MapReduce in Hadoop' is the latest in the technology field. Learning how to program and develop for the Hadoop platform can lead to rewarding new career opportunities in Big Data and its related areas. AIMIT, in partnership with Infosys Campus-Connect, that periodically conducts training workshops, commenced this course for three days. MapReduce is the heart of Hadoop®.
It is this programming paradigm that allows for massive scalability across hundreds or thousands of servers in a Hadoop clusters. The MapReduce concept is fairly simple to understand for those who are familiar with clustered scale-out data processing solutions.
There has been overwhelming response to this programme and a total of fourteen colleges from all over Mangalore are participating.
The organizer professor R Manimozhi of AIMIT introduced the dignitaries at the inaugural ceremony. Fr Pradeep Sequeira , the administrator and finance officer of AIMIT was the chief guest. The other dignitaries were professor Santhosh Rebello, dean of MCA at AIMIT, and the IT experts from Infosys – Manjunath Vasishta - senior project manager, Sivarama Sarma - Technology Architect and Kavya Gopi - Lead, E&R Department.
Fr Pradeep in his inaugural speech, touched on the importance of the highest degree of all-round excellence the students can reach, over that of an institution. It is not the name of the institution that matters but the level of all-inclusive brilliance the students achieve and radiate.
During the valedictory held on July 12, Fr Denzil Lobo, rector, St Aloysius College and director of AIMIT thanked the participants and the organizers for conducting the programme. He spoke about the growth of computer education at St Aloysius College back in 1987 to what it is today. He mentioned about his dream of seeing AIMIT become one of the top ten business and IT Schools in India.
Professor Santhosh stressed on the importance of leveraging this latest technology to capitalize on the shift to the new paradigm of computing. Santhosh spoke on the immediate need to fill this gap in Big Data Analytics and said the demand for technical specialists with big data analytics skills is expected to increase dramatically over the next several years.
