Beltangady, Jul 9: Former president of Beltangady taluk panchayat and president of Beltangady Taluk Malayalee Christian Association, T G Joy (47), who was injured in an accident on July 4, passed away at Apollo Hospital Bangalore on Monday July 8 morning.
Joy was returning after attending the meeting of Karnatak Pradesh Congress Committee at Bangalore in a car owned by Naravi Srinivas Kini, who happens to be a member of KPCC, when the car met with an accident near Bellur Cross within Hirisave police station limits in Hassan district on July 4. Kini and Joy were tossed out of the car and onto the road due to the impact of the accident. In addition to Kini and Joy, Obayya from Chibidre, and former director of Karnataka Milk Federation, Pramod Rekhya, were injured.
While Obayya and Pramod were discharged after treatment, the kind of injuries suffered by Joy was too serious to heal. Kini needs to undergo a surgery.
Joy had worked as Beltangady taluk panchayat president, member of Agriculture Produce Market Committee, president of Syrian Catholic Credit Cooperative Society, block Congress vice president, and president of Beltangady taluk Malayalee Christian Association. He had entered political life as member of Charmadi gram panchayat.
He had worked in the Gulf region, and was involved with Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and Jaya Karnataka organization. He was a good Kabaddi player.
Joy was very close to MLA, Vasant Bangera. Bangera, who was admitted into an eye hospital in Mangalore, fell down due to shock upon learning about the death of Joy, and suffered injuries in his waist. He is being treated now.
Hundreds of people from the taluk rushed to Bangalore upon learning about the death of their dear leader. In addition to Vasant bangera, block Congress president, Harish Kumar, and others have expressed shock and grief at the demise of Joy and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
